The Alice Ferguson Foundation (AFF), a leader in providing quality environmental education experiences in the Washington DC metro region, seeks a dynamic, results-oriented professional with at least four years of experience to serve as Assistant Program Manager for the Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative. The Assistant Program Manager will act as the point person for the Program Manager by overseeing the coordination and development of the Trash Initiative (TI) program activities and program staff including: Litter Prevention Campaign, community outreach, Trash Free Schools, and Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, Trash Summit, and the supports the on-going partnership and cross programming between Hard Bargain Farm (HBF) and Bridging the Watershed (BTW).

The Assistant Program Manager is responsible for overseeing a variety of grant funded projects, including management of financials and deliverables. Successful candidates will build momentum in communities to address the issue of litter through AFF’s Regional Litter Prevention Campaign and Trash Free Schools. The Assistant Program Manager will have project management experience, and a demonstrated ability to keep projects on time and on budget. The Assistant Program Manager must be a strong writer, with experience using spreadsheets and other programs to analyze and present data.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently on a variety of assignments with minimal supervision; be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collegial, team-oriented, and entrepreneurial environment; and be able to work with high level constituents, including donors and board members. The candidate should possess strong organizational, research, marketing, policy and business process skills. The candidate also must demonstrate creative problem-solving and decision-making skills, initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy and discretion.
