The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Director for its Wildlife Protection Department. The main responsibility of this position is to oversee the "Get the Lead Out" and the "Fur Free" campaigns. Other duties include, but are not limited to: manage staff and consultants; set and help carryout department goals; oversee the strategic plan and vision for the assigned campaigns; identify and drive ares of focus for both campaigns; identify additional wildlife protection issues relating to the assigned campaigns and aggressively promote actions that produce positive outcomes at local, state, regional and federal levels; responsible for fundraising efforts, budgeting, communication strategies, and staff development; lead efforts with assigned campaign staff to develop relationships and form partnerships with government agencies, conservation and wildlife protection organizations. Bachelor's degree (Or Master's degree) or equivalent in related field with a minimum of three to five year's experience desired. Demonstrated interest in wildlife and habitat protection, and related federal, state and local laws and policies preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and writing for diverse audiences preferred. Strong leadership skills and willingness to travel is essential.
