Professional Development Courses

A hallmark of the MEES program is providing students with a solid ethical foundation from which they can confidently translate their scientific findings into communication products and productive interactions with the management and policy communities, as well as the general public and other scientists outside their own field. The MEES Professional Development courses provide these skills.  All students must take three professional development courses, including one required course, MEES 601 (formerly MEES 609A) - Applied Environmental Science. Note: Students shall be awarded credit for either MEES 601 or MEES 609A. The other two required professional development courses are selected by each student in consultation with his/her advisory committee.  The Professional Development course “Responsible Conduct of Research” is recommended if you receive federal (NIH/NSF) funding. Any additional professional development courses may be taken as electives.
