MEES Course Listing : Biochemistry

BCHM 461 Biochemistry 1 (3 credits)
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CHEM 243 or CHEM 247. The "C" or better in the prerequisites is required for Life Science majors.
Course Description: A comprehensive introduction to general biochemistry. The chemistry and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins.

BCHM 462 Biochemistry 2 (3 credits)
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in BCHM 461 or BCHM 461A. The "C" or better in the prerequisites is required for Life Science majors.
Course Description: A continuation of BCHM 461.

BCHM 464 Biochemistry Lab (2 credits)
Corequisites: BCHM 462. For BCHM and CHEM majors only.
Course Description: Students must pay a $40.00 Laboratory Materials fee.

BCHM 465 Biochemistry 3 (3 credits)
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in BCHM 461 or BCHM 461A. The "C" or better in the prerequisites is required for Life Science majors.
Course Description: An advanced course in Biochemistry.

BCHM 671 Protein Chemistry & Enzym. Catal. (3 credits)
Course Description: Principles of protein structure and function, characterization of active sites, enzyme mechanisms and kinetics, antibody structure.
